This handbook is designed to help teachers and administrators of websites in the Interscholastic Online News Network (ISONN) set up and operate their sites properly. You may duplicate any part of this handbook to help your students learn how to produce content for their sites.
ISONN-connected sites run through JeffersonNet, a WordPress-based* content management system that was created for this purpose in September-October 2010. The chief architect of this CMS is Jeff Stovall.
The Interscholastic Online News Network (ISONN) is an association of high school news websites, teachers, administrators and professionals who seek to help scholastic journalism improve in today’s converged environment. A main purpose of the association is to encourage the startup of news websites at high schools and middle schools.
ISONN is a part of the Intercollegiate Online News Network (ICONN).
* Some school systems have a policy of blocking WordPress.com and WordPress.org. This policy does not affect ISONN sites. While we use the WordPress software, our sites are located on different services from WordPress and thus are not blocked.
